Reasons

The Human Race is filled with passion…Medicine, law, business, engineering… These are all noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, romance, beauty, love… these are what we stay alive for…” (“Dead Poets Society”)

I love the quote above from the timeless movie The Dead Poets Society because it reminds me of why I spend so much time doing what I do. As a kid I would get lost in stories and in them seek refuge from my troubles. Whether from books, movies, TV, and video games, the characters, stories and worlds just do something magical to me. Eventually I was no longer satisfied being just a spectator and consumer of stories. I needed to participate in the creation of new ones. I realized my imagination always needs to get out. It’s always trying to manifest itself. Like the Tom Schulman writes, I need to imagine and to create. It’s what I stay alive for.

Since childhood, my life has been a meandering journey to this point that I find myself. I’ve changed paths and taken many divergences to get here. This is not to say I know where I am or where exactly I have arrived, but I can say that the path I am on feels right.

Over the years I have been involved in many pursuits. I’ve been involved in filmmaking, directing/producing music videos. I love photography and painting. I’ve been a touring musician, a radio DJ, an audio engineer and a teacher. I love writing, event production, cooking and travel. I have a bachelor’s degree in sociology and philosophy. I say this not to impress you, but to illustrate what I’ve been through to try and find my favorite forms of expression. All of these things are different tentacles of the same being–the octopus of self expression. They all add to, and influence what is currently my main love: animation.

The places animation can take you are limitless. The real world is only one possible version of what could be. Animation feels like a limitless playground where alternative realities can be imagined.

On this site here you’ll find my endeavors in visual art. I hope you find something that you like!
